Fiberglass Bathtub and Shower Repairs
Fiberglass Bathtub and Shower Repairs – When it’s more than just a cosmetic issue.
Fiberglass bathtub and shower enclosures are widely used by builders even today for new construction projects. And for the last 4 decades, they have been builders first choice because of their affordability and ease of installation, especially in track homes, condominiums, apartments, and hotels. Though the durability of fiberglass is good, they are not without their issues. Many times these one-piece units are not supported properly and eventually result in weak, cracking tub floors causing leaks and water damage to surrounding areas. Additionally, when plumbing behind the fiberglass walls becomes problematic and needs to be repaired or replaced, it can be difficult for the plumber to gain access to the worn plumbing fixtures.
Fortunately, Commercial Bath Refinishing can repair pretty much every fiberglass enclosure problem no matter how big or small and once the repair has been properly corrected we can refinish the fiberglass enclosure to achieve a like new appearance all for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Weak tub or shower bottom – Proper support of the tub/shower floor
When the tub or shower floor becomes unsupported and eventually cracks, we can re-support the floor giving it a solid feel again. This is done by cutting out the existing damaged fiberglass floor exposing the underneath foam support that has become wet and has failed. We then remove all of the old, damaged support systems and install a combination of wood and cement to create a new permanent foundation that will last the life of the tub. The bottom of the enclosure is then given a new fiberglass floor which blends into the existing tub bottom seamlessly as if there was never a problem. The entire tub is then refinished to give it a like new look all in one day at a fraction of the cost of replacement.

When the plumbing behind the wall needs to be replaced – We repair the access hole left by the plumber!
It’s a fact that your fiberglass tub or shower enclosure will outlast the plumbing that is behind the walls. So when it becomes time to upgrade the plumbing valve, and the plumber needs to cut a hole in the fiberglass wall in order to install new plumbing, Commercial Bath will repair the fiberglass damage left behind. With special resins and fillers, we will use the original pieces that were cut out and reinstall them back into the tub wall seamlessly to make it look like it never happened.

The need for better access – The "Walk-Thru Insert"
Looking for a safer way to access your tub? Are you looking for a low-cost tub to shower conversion? Commercial Bath can install an accessible ‘walk thru insert’ in less than a day without the expensive remodeling costs. We install the pre-made insert into the existing fiberglass bathtub which allows a lower access point when getting into and out of the bathtub. This service will greatly reduce the possibility of slip and fall accidents which is the leading cause of home injury deaths; it claims nearly 6,000 lives per year, according to the U.S. Home Safety Council.
And the new finish will last. Not only will we repair your damaged tub properly and quickly, we will make sure that the refinishing that is done to conceal the repairs will leave a new surface that will last for many years to come.
